This style guide was composed by me during the development of The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion pack.

The point was for the artists to quickly manage to identify main visual cues of different factions and regions within the game to keep each area unique and consistent. The same document was later used during the development of GWENT: the Witcher card game as well as Thronebreaker: the Witcher tales. the document has proven to be extremely useful especially when working with newly hired artists and outsource.

The document contains sets of concept art, in-game models as well as reference photos.

At the beginning of 2018 CD PROJEKT RED announced Project Homecoming which aimed to rework GWENT both from the visual and gameplay side.

The following doc is a colour palette and mood reference for illustrators working on the new board designs. It was one of the more dynamic documents and got updated on a weekly basis to show the progress of illustrations and include influence from other parts of the project.

Project 1 (pdf: 6mb)

A heavily redacted version of a pitch bible. Original was a presentation for the main stakeholders to approve the pre-production.

This document was used mainly as a mood board for first concepts and mock-ups. Separate documents were created for environments and characters.

PROJECT 2 (PDF: 5mb)

A heavily redacted version of a pitch bible. Original was a presentation for the main stakeholders to approve the pre-production.

Later on the same document was used as a base for the initial concept-art, 3d and tech-art teams.

The document, due to being the first step in pre-production, contains only 2 original pieces of artwork. The rest is a compilation of visual reference found on the web.
